Dymaxion car, 1933

Designer Buckminster Fuller created this aerodynamic concept car that looked more like a tube than a car and could carry 11 passengers. In the 1933 World’s Fair, a test drive claimed the life of the driver and injured three passengers, thus shunning the idea of its production.
