When great artists make terrible records

By Kim Hughes Slide 1 of 11

Maintaining a long rock and roll career is tough

Let’s face it – maintaining a long rock and roll career is tough. Trends come and go, the tastes of fans can change and there are many more people involved in a band’s success or failure than just the members themselves (see managers, producers, and labels to name three). Plus, not all albums can be monster hits. Occasionally however, even great musicians – those with solid careers and generally smart choices – will unleash a bona fide stinker, an album so weird or ill-conceived or just plain awful that you have to marvel… from a safe distance and with the volume turned down. Here are some bombs from the rock canon.
