You know me: When actors play themselves

By Sean Plummer Slide 1 of 11

Let's look at a few films where actors play themselves

How personal a role is for an actor is a question that has been debated since Hollywood began. For instance, was Bette Davis, as a washed-up movie star, playing herself in 1952’s The Star? But the phenomenon of actors playing themselves is a more recent trend, one really kicked off by John Malkovich playing John Malkovich in Being John Malkovich (1999). Similarly, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Craig Robinson, and Danny McBride all play twisted versions of themselves in the apocalyptic comedy This is the End. To that end, let’s look at a few films where actors play themselves… kind of.
