While the country is still coming to terms with the horrific Kathua and Unnao rapes, many celebrities from different film industries have voiced their opinions on the matter.

Actress Nivetha Pethuraj, who rose to fame with the film Oru Naal Koothu, has spoken up against sexual harassment.

In a series of Facebook videos, she requested parents to be more responsible and take measures to prevent their children from becoming the victims of sexual harassment.

She started the video by saying, "Vanakkam. A lot of issues are going on right now in our country - of which some of them are beyond our control, and some of them can be controlled by us. One of the issues that we handle is 'women's safety'."

She went on to say, "The reason behind posting this video is that I am pretty sure that the most of the people watching the video - both men and women - would have been victims sexual harassment during their childhood. That includes me too."

"What could I have possibly told my parents when I was little. I wouldn't know what happened," she said.

She then requested the parents to take action. "I know it is going to be very uncomfortable. But sit your kids down and teach them. Start it even when they (kids) are two years old. Tell them about what should not be said and things like 'bad touch'."

Nivetha then requested all men to form a small community in every street and ensure the safety of women at nights. "I am afraid to go out these days. I am skeptical of everyone I come across in the street. That is really a bad state. Let's make this place more peaceful and happy," she added.

Nivetha will next be seen in two much-anticipated films. She is acting in the first Indian space movie Tik Tik Tik and will also be seen in Venkat Prabhu's multi-starrer film Party.
