Rajinikanth meets fans After eight years, superstar Rajinikanth met his fans at Raghavendra Mandapam in Chennai. On the last day of fan meet-and-greet, Rajinikanth spoke about his cinematic journey and hinted at joining politics. Over the years, speculations over Rajinikanth taking the political plunge is a news that never sleeps.

Earlier this week, Rajinikanth, while addressing his fans, said that he has no political aspirations but will consider taking the path "if it's God's will". After his explosive statement, reports are rife that Thalaivar is finally making his entry into politics. While his fans are trying to woo their idol to join politics, Rajinikanth refused to mince words.

Taking a dig at those who have criticised Rajinikanth for being an 'outsider', the Enthiran star said, "I lived in Karnataka for 23 years and Tamil Nadu for 43 years. Though I am from Karnataka, you welcomed me and made me a true Tamilian."

Hinting at joining politics, Rajinikanth said, "You have responsibilities and so do I. go home and do the needful. When the war comes we shall see."

Interestingly, Thalaivar also praised DMK Working President MK Stalin and said, "MK Stalin is a very good administrator - Cho used to say that if given a free hand he will do well."

Rajinikanth was supposed to meet his fans last month. However, Thalaivar felt it would be difficult for him to take pictures with every fan back then. The last such meeting with fans was in 2009 post the success of his film Sivaji. After all these years, will Rajinikanth finally take the plunge? Only time will tell.

On the work front, Rajinikanth is teaming up with Kabali director Pa Ranjith for a Tamil film, which is not based on the gangster Haji Mastan. At the event, Thalaivar confirmed that the shooting of the film will begin on May 28.
