Kamal Haasan, who has floated his new political party Makkal Needhi Maiam, finally revealed what his daughters - Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan - felt about his decision to enter politics and quit films.

Though Shruti Haasan and Akshara have now voiced their support for their father's decision to venture into politics, they were initially not happy with the decision.

Kamal Haasan revealed the initial reactions of Shruti and Akshara in an interview with an entertainment website.

Haasan said, "They didn't like it at all. They were very unhappy... especially Shruti. She said what happens to the artist, and it is her right to ask because she truly believes that the artist belongs to her. That artist resides in her also. She is proud of her DNA."

He then added, "They were very concerned. They are in love with the father who is an artist and they are proud of it. Now they feel what will happen to that part. I said, there are many things to replay including your memory. I had to convince them that it was my calling and that I had to go in this direction. Kindly accept that, and I'm happy that they are with me. Not necessarily politically, but in spirit."

Kamal Haasan was in Delhi to promote his upcoming film Vishwaroopam 2. However, the moment he heard the news of the death of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi, he flew back to Chennai and paid his last respects to one of the greatest leaders of Indian politics.

Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2 is releasing this weekend in three languages, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu (dubbed).
