Capsicum is enjoyed all over the world in a variety of cuisines. While some call it ‘Shimla Mirch‘ in Hindi, it is called  ‘Kuda Milagai‘ in Tamil, ‘Parangi Mulagu‘ in Malayalam, ‘Donne Menasinakai‘ in Kannada and ‘Bhopli Mirchi‘ in Marathi. This vegetable has so many health benefits that you will be amazed! Here is a list of what all benefits it has. 

Good for Eyes

Being high in vitamin A, red bell peppers help in supporting healthy eyesight, especially our night vision. Red bell pepper has carotenoid which basically helps in lowering the risk of macular degeneration of the eyes. This is common among ageing people, this is where capsicum steps in. They protect your eyes from cataracts as they are high on beta-carotene and vitamin C.

Calories

Red bell peppers activate thermogenesis and increase the metabolic rate. Now capsaicin present in the vegetable increase the metabolism without increasing the heart rate and blood pressure. Therefore it is great to have it in your diet as it is good for weight loss.

Anti-Cancer  

Rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory nutrients, capsicum has several anti-cancer benefits. The vegetable contains health supportive sulphur compounds. The enzymes in it help prevent gastric cancer and oesophagal cancer.

Vitamin C is important if you want to maintain a healthy immune system and to build strong collagen to support skin and joints. Capsicum helps in lowering the risk of arthritis and Vitamin K in it aids in the formation of blood clots.
