Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world after water and there isn’t a better time to consume tea than in winters. Drinking tea in winters is like a warm hug. And it just gets better when your cup of tea is infused with the goodness of healing spices and superfoods. However in the cold weather when your immunity can go for a toss and your body craves warmth with strength there are some herbs that are often recommended. Either we put them in our food or find it best to add them to our drinks like tea.

Your tea is delicious for sure but there are some ingredients which make that hot cup very healthy. Bala Sarda, Founder at VAHDAM India suggests matcha lemongrass and ashwagandha, especially for your winter drinks. Here are some reasons why he suggests these herbs are perfect.

Ashwagandha

It is touted as a cure-all or "adaptogen". Ashwagandha can be made a part of your diet in many ways: tablets, roots and powder. One of the easiest ways to get your daily dosage of this magical ancient herb is to drink it with your daily cup or cups of teas. When preparing ashwagandha tea (tea leaves with ashwagandha powder), hot water draws out the goodness of ashwagandha and blends it with the extracts of the tea – the polyphenols, the antioxidants and the catechins. The resulting cup gives you the best of both worlds: the benefits of tea and ashwagandha.

Matcha

Matcha tea is said to be excellent for strengthening our immunity. It is considered a powerful antioxidant that is also said to help in controlling Type 2 diabetes. Besides having a relaxing effect, matcha is well known for boosting energy and it also may help in protecting you against infections and detoxifying the body.

Lemongrass is a well-known herb that is often had in tea or even food for balancing the taste and boosting your immunity. It is a staple in many Asian dishes. The aroma of lemongrass is very relaxing and it also helps in treating stomach disorders. It detoxifies the body and is also said to be helpful in lowering your cholesterol levels.

These three herbs are considered a staple in many tea boxes of connoisseurs and experimenting with your cup of tea is always good as you never know which herb works best on you.

However, it is recommended that you consult a doctor or nutritionist because each body reacts differently to natural products and especially when it comes to herbs.
