There was a time when Diwali was about buying new clothes, jewellery, home appliances etc. Various offline and online market places tried to lure the customers by offering some unbelievable deals and discounts. This year the trend has changed. Diwali is no more about buying new clothes or eating good food, this year it's about getting the best mobile plan as well. From Idea, Airtel, Jio and others, virtually all the heavyweights are providing attractive offers and unlimited calling at throwaway prices.

In a bid to take on Reliance Jio, Airtel and Idea have come up with new plans. Under this new plan, Idea and Airtel offer 1GB of 4G data per day along with unlimited calls for a validity of 84 days. According to a report by Digit, this new plan by both Airtel and Idea is priced at Rs 495. This plan will be in direct competition to Jio's Rs 399 plan. When it comes to unlimited calling, Airtel and Idea are limiting the duration of these calls to 300 minutes per day and 1,200 minutes per week with the new Rs 495 plan.

Reliance Jio offers 1GB of 4G data per day and unlimited calling for 84 days under its Rs 399 plan but the new subscribers have to pay Rs 99 extra for the JioPrime membership bringing the entire cost of Jio's Rs 399 plan to Rs 498. When you compare this to the new plan being offered by Airtel and Idea, the latter is not a bad deal. There are multiple competing plans that Airtel and Jio have to offer for their prepaid customers. Airtel recently introduced a new festive plan for Rs 799 offering 3GB 3G/4G data daily along with unlimited local and STD calls for a period of 28 days.

Coming to the slightly cheaper plans, Jio is offering a Rs 149 plan under which it is giving unlimited calling and free 4G data for 28 days. On the other hand, Airtel's cheapest plan to offer unlimited calling is available at a recharge of Rs 199.
