Trump Running Out of Time to Name Federal Reserve Chief

Time is running out for Donald Trump to pick the next head of the Federal Reserve or stick with current chief Janet Yellen. Even though Trump has said he has "a lot of respect" for Yellen, whose term ends in February, whether he'll pick her to stay on is currently unknown. According to strategists, if Trump is nominating someone else, it would be safest to do it around October to allow time for Senate confirmation proceedings to conclude before Yellen's term ends in February. Byron Wien, the vice chairman of Blackstone's private-wealth-solutions group, says, "This is not something Donald Trump knows a whole lot about, and so I think he'll rely on advisers like Gary Cohn and Steven Mnuchin when he considers appointees."
