Airtel ties up with South Korea’s SK Telecom to build advanced network in India

New Delhi: India’s largest telecom service provider Bharti Airtel Ltd on Wednesday said it has partnered with South Korea’s SK Telecom Co. Ltd to build an advanced telecom network in India.

The two companies will work across several areas, including developing bespoke software to improve network experience, leveraging advanced tools including machine learning and big data, and building customized tools to improve network planning, the company said in a BSE filing on Wednesday.

Bharti Airtel and SK Telecom will also work together to evolve standards for 5G, network functions virtualisation, software-defined networking and internet of things, said the company. They will also collaborate on building an ecosystem to introduce these technologies in India.

At 9.57am, Bharti Airtel shares were trading 0.65% down at Rs404.25, while BSE Sensex was up 85 points, or 0.27%, at 32,244.
