New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a first information report (FIR) in the case related to the murder of anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar, an agency spokesperson said.

The FIR has been registered against unknown persons, the spokesperson added.

The case has been registered on transfer from Pune police as per a high court order.

Dabholkar, 67, a rationalist, was murdered on 20 August last year. The case was being handled by the Pune police but there had been little progress.

On 9 May, the case had been transferred to the CBI on the direction of the Bombay high court following a public interest litigation (PIL) in the matter.
