Markets live: Sensex, Nifty open higher, Divi’s Laboratories shares fall 2%

BSE Sensex rises in opening trade. The broader Nifty, too, rises on Monday morning. The Indian rupee, tracking Asian currencies, rises against the US dollar. The shares of Reliance Industries Ltd, Dilip Buildcon Ltd and Fortis Healthcare rise, while those of Divi’s Laboratories fall.

9.38am: BSE Sensex trades higher by 133 points, or 0.45%, to 29,499, while the Nifty 50 rises 39 points, or 0.43%, to 9,159.

9.30am: Divi’s Laboratories Ltd shares fall 2.3% to Rs616.60 after the company said the US health regulator has issued a warning letter to the company for its Vishakhapatnam facility.

9.25am: Reliance Industries Ltd shares rise 1% to Rs1,413.10 ahead of its March quarter earnings. According to 4 Bloomberg analyst estimates, the company may post a net profit of Rs8,046.50 crore, while net sales will be at Rs86,908.20 crore.

9.22am: Fortis Healthcare Ltd shares rise 2.4% to Rs208.85 after Mint reported that private equity fund General Atlantic Llc. has become the fifth entity to show interest in buying a controlling stake in hospital operator Fortis Healthcare Ltd.

9.20am: Dilip Buildcon Ltd shares rise 4.3% to Rs431.15 after the company said it was declared the lowest bidder for construction of Parallel Taxi Track and associate civil and electrical works at Dabolim Airport in Goa.

9.15am: The rupee opened at 64.51 a dollar. At 9.15am, the rupee was trading at 64.52 a dollar, up 0.16% from its Friday’s close of 64.61. Year-to-date, it gained 5.3%

9.10am: The 10-year bond yield was trading at 6.946% compared to its previous close of 6.924%. Bond yields and prices move in opposite directions.

9.05am: US stocks closed lower in choppy trade Friday as investors looked ahead to the French election. The Wall Street also digested falling oil prices and comments from the Trump administration on tax reform.

9.00am: Singapore dollar was up 0.17%, Indonesian rupiah 0.16%, Taiwan dollar 0.14% and China offshore 0.05%. However, Japanese yen was down 0.88%, Thai baht 0.07%, Philippines peso 0.05% and South Korean won fell 0.04%.
