Mayawati appoints brother Anand Kumar as BSP vice-president

New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Friday appointed her brother Anand Kumar as the party’s vice-president on condition that he will never become MP, MLA or chief minister.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister also said that she is being targeted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on allegations of scam in selling of sugar mills during her tenure so that she stops speaking about electronic voting machines EVM tampering.

She also said that she has no reservation in forming an alliance of anti-BJP parties in fight against EVM tampering to keep democracy alive.

The BSP leader and Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal have questioned the transparency of voting conducted through EVMs and are demanding a paper trail incorporated into the process.

The Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government has ordered a probe into the sale of 21 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh during Mayawati’s rule in 2010-11.
