Ministers to stop using red beacons, sign of VIP culture, from 1 May

New Delhi: The Government on Wednesday decided to remove the red beacon from the cars of ministers to end the VIP culture.

Transport minister Nitin Gadkari after a Cabinet meeting said the red beacon will be removed from cars of the Prime Minister and all other ministers.

The transport minister said the beacon will be allowed only on emergency service vehicles from 1 May to end VIP culture.
