Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Monday moved the Supreme Court, seeking an injunction on the Calcutta high court’s order to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to launch a probe into the Narada News sting operation which claimed to have exposed corruption among top Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders.

The petitions by the state and those seen on Narada News tapes taking cash are expected to be heard on Tuesday even as time runs out for the CBI to conclude a preliminary inquiry.

In compliance with the court’s order the agency in Kolkata has already taken possession of documents and tapes and started an inquiry, a spokesperson said.

While passing the verdict on Friday, the court had directed the CBI to collect the documents and tapes within 24 hours and conclude its preliminary investigation within 72 hours thereafter.
