Patna: With the exit polls showing a poor performance by Janata Dal (United), JD (U), in the Lok Sabha elections, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday dismissed the projections and said the results should be waited for. “Yah to aap log bol rahe hai (you are saying this),” Kumar said. “Lets wait for the results on 16 May”.

Exit poll projections are predicting around five out of 40 seats for JD (U) and 20 to 25 for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi refused to comment on the exit polls. Congress state president Ashok Choudhary also disagreed with the projections. “When the results will come out on 16 May, the scene will be different and the Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal will perform handsomely,” he said. The pradesh Congress committee chief said that his party benefited from the alliance with Lalu Prasad. “Had the alliance come a little before, the results would have been even more impressive for the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) in Bihar,” he added.
