OnePlus 3T colette edition: A gorgeous phone you may not be able to buy

Smartphone maker OnePlus has the habit of pulling the proverbial rabbit out of the hat, from time to time. Late last year, it was the surprise with the OnePlus 3T, which became the successor to the already very successful OnePlus 3, launched a few months earlier. And now, OnePlus has released an update to the OnePlus 3T. But don’t dust off your credit card and head off to Amazon.in to order the phone, just yet.

The OnePlus 3T colette edition, as it is called, has been made to celebrate the Paris-based fashion brand’s 20th anniversary. It will be dressed in an all-black colour (the OnePlus 3T is available in soft gold and gunmetal colour options only). None of the other OnePlus 3T colour options are glossy or shiny, and this black variant also retains the brushed metal look—this means it’ll not catch fingerprints or scratches easily. The colette logo will accompany the OnePlus logo on the back panel. The dimensions and weight remain the same, only the appearance is different.

Now for the news that might disappoint a few of us. Only 250 units of the OnePlus 3T colette edition will be made and sold, which makes this truly a limited-edition device. Also, it’ll only be sold at the colette store in Paris when the store’s doors open at 11am on 21 March. It will not be available at any other store or even on online shopping platforms. The phone is priced at EUR 479 (around Rs33,570), and OnePlus says that it will be bundling a free set of the Bullets V2 earphones with each purchase.

The OnePlus 3T colette edition will have the same specs as the higher-spec variant of the OnePlus 3T, which means it’ll run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 6GB RAM, a 5.5-inch Full HD display and a very competent 16-megapixel camera. The phone will have 128GB internal storage (but no memory card slot to add more space), and a 3,400mAh battery with the Dash Charge feature.

Even now, the OnePlus 3T (Rs29,999 onwards) is one of the better Android phones you can buy, and puts a lot of the much more expensive flagship phones to shame.
