Parliament on Thursday passed the Finance Bill, 2017 completing the budgetary exercise for 2017-18. The Lok Sabha rejected five amendments to the Finance Bill that were moved in the Rajya Sabha.

Of the five opposition amendments that were moved in the Rajya Sabha, three were by the Congress member Digvijaya Singh and two by Sitaram Yechury of the CPM. The amendments were adopted with a significant margin, with the difference of votes ranging between 27 and 34 votes.
