Remember Pokemon Go, the game that made you go around and walk a lot looking for, well, Pokemons? The game caused quite a buzz globally but sadly never launched in India officially. Now Reliance Jio has partnered up with the game's developer Niantic Labs and launched the Pokemon Go in the country. The game will be available on iOS and Android starting today December 14.

To refresh your memory, Pokemon Go game is an augmented reality game where users have to physically walk to find pocket monsters or Pokemons. With Reliance Jio's partnership, gamers will now see all Reliance Digital Stores and some of its partner premises as Pokestops and Gyms, which are geographical locations important for the gameplay.

"It's exciting to see Pokémon fans in India step out and explore their neighbourhoods in search of Pokémon and Jio's disruptive high speed 4G LTE Network will be an excellent way to experience the game," he said.

The users of the Jio Chat app can join an exclusive Pokemon Go Channel, where players can collaborate and share tips, clues and more with each other. The channel or chatroom should help players to level-up faster.

Pokemon Go officially has over 500 million downloads globally, the growing number of mobile internet users is expected to grow the game's popularity.

"With over 500 million downloads globally, we are excited to launch Pokémon GO officially in India on the Reliance Jio network," said Mathew Oommen, president Reliance Jio.

"Our partnership with Niantic not only brings access to the Pokémon GO app but also opens the door to more opportunities for our customers to enjoy content on Jio's one-of-a-kind mobile broadband network," said Oomen.

After its initial success bordering crazy fan following, the Pokemon Go lost steam gradually. Despite treading on the nostalgia theme, the game remained full of bugs even after updates. The game may still regain the lost steam, if the developers roll out new features, more Pokemons and of course bug fixes.
