New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramaniam Swamy has sought an early hearing of his plea seeking to allow rebuilding a Ram Mandir at the site of the demolished disputed structure.

“Pleadings are complete in the matter and it must be listed for hearing,” Swamy said.

However, a bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) J.S. Khehar orally observed that parties must resolve the issue amicably without deciding on a date for hearing.

“The Ayodhya dispute is a matter of sentiment,” the CJI orally observed.

Swamy had moved the apex court in November last year seeking a day-to-day hearing on a batch of pleas relating to the dispute.

Swamy’s case was tagged along with appeals against the 2010 Allahabad high court verdict of three-way division of the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid site in Ayodhya.
