We're used to pre-launch rumour overload and confusion, but sometimes some sources really don't help the situation with the way they describe things. Take, for instance, the latest report from extremely reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo about the iPhone 7 Plus dual-camera module - this guy's track record is insanely good, so we know to sit up and pay attention when he speaks. However, his latest note to investors was reported originally by 9To5Mac and then subsequently by others in a way that wasn't exactly crystal clear, here's the quote from Kuo:

"Dual-camera to become a must-have feature for high-end smartphone. The initial market response to Huawei’s (CN) new flagship dual-camera model, P9, has been better than expected, and we estimate shipments may reach 10mn units in 2016F. In our view, more high-end smartphones will adopt this feature going forward. And, in order to maintain its leading position in the high-end market, we expect Apple will fully adopt dual-camera on the new 5.5-inch iPhone in 2H16"

But several other sites reporting this story have gone with the angle that "all iPhone 7 Plus versions" or "the full iPhone 7 Plus 5.5-inch lineup," will feature the dual-camera and 3GB of RAM. This has the potential to be pretty damn confusing if misinterpreted, however.

The angle is based on a previous rumour, where it was claimed Apple was allegedly toying with the idea of two iPhone 7 Plus models (one or both of which may or may not have been dubbed the iPhone 7 Pro) one with the same hardware as the regular iPhone 7, including a single sensor camera, and one with the dual-sensor camera, 3GB of RAM and "Pro" features such as the Smart Connector.

The real point of the story and the info originating from Kuo is that Apple has basically ditched this plan, apparently because Sony, the firm supplying the dual-camera sensors, is now believed to be able to meet demand for the hardware where previously it was uncertain. That means the key takeaway message here is that there will only be ONE iPhone 7 Plus design, whether it's called that or the iPhone 7 Pro, and it'll feature a dual-camera and 3GB of RAM, along with other features such as a Smart Connector.

To be absolutely clear, there WILL NOT be multiple iPhone 7 Plus variants with different hardware setups; of course you'll still be able to get different storage options and colours, but apart from that it is ONE iPhone 7 and ONE iPhone 7 Plus (which may still, admittedly, be dubbed the iPhone 7 Pro).
