A family of three was found dead in mysterious circumstances in Ahmedabad's Krishna Nagar area. Police suspect that the three committed suicide and a note recovered form the family's home suggests that the three believed they were under the influence of black magic.

Those dead include Kunal Trivedi, 45, and his wife Kavita and daughter Shirin.

The three used to stay in a rented house in a locality named Avni Sky along with Kunal's mother. According to the police, his wife and the 16-year-old daughter consumed poison to kill themselves while Kunal hanged himself.

Kunal's mother, who was found lying unconscious, is currently in the hospital. The deaths were discovered after Kunal's relatives, who were trying to contact him and his family for 24 hours, got worried and called the police.

The police found a suicide note at the scene in which Kunal had explained why the family chose to commit suicide. Kunal wrote, "Mummy aap mujhe kabhi samajh nahi paayi. Maine kayi baar kaalishakti ke baare me bataya par aapne kabhi nahi maana. Aur sharab ko uska karan bataya." (English translation: Mummy, you never understood me. I told you about black magic and its powers so many times but you never believed me. You always told me it was because of alcohol).

Kunal, in his letter, wrote that he and his family never wanted to commit suicide but were forced to do so because the of black magic powers.

He said, "Jigneshbhai ye aapki jawabdari hai. Sher alvida kar raha hai. Sabhi ne ye sthitiyan dekhi hain lekin koi kuch nahi kar sakta tha." (English translation: "Jigneshbhai, this is your responsibility. The lion is saying goodbye. Everyone saw the conditions but nobody couldn't do anything.")

The police are currently investigating the matter further.
