
Australian authorities plan to kill pigeon that crossed Pacific from US
A racing pigeon has survived an extraordinary 13,000km Pacific Ocean crossing from the United States to Australia. Kevin Celli-Bird found the exhausted bird in his garden in his Melbourne home. The bird's feat has attracted the attention of the Australian media and the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service. The quarantine authorities consider the bird a quarantine risk and plan to kill it.
