Advocate and activist Prashant Bhushan has filed a complaint against writer Madhu Kishwar for using her "Twitter handle to publish misleading and false information".

Prashant Bhushan, in a tweet, said that the criminal complaint was filed for "serious offences under Sections 153A, 295A and 505 of the IPC against serial fake news purveyor and communal hate and violence inciting tweets of Madhu Kishwar who thinks she can get away without accountability".

"Time to call her bluff," Prashant Bhushan tweeted from his verified handle @pbhushan1 to his more than one million followers.

In his complaint, Prashant Bhushan said that Madhu Kishwar's tweets are "intended to incite communal hatred and create a disturbance to public peace and tranquility". He shared a screenshot of one of Kishwar's tweets from her verified handle @madhukishwar from April 14 on the Kathua rape and murder case.

The tweet that Prashant Bhushan complained about read: "Very likely that family accused of rape have been scapegoated. Murder of (8-year-old) suspected to be handiwork of jehadi #Rohingyas settled by PDP in Jammu region. Since Jammu people angry at settling criminal Rohingya in Hindu areas, Mehbooba used this murder as counterblast strategy".

Prashant Bhushan, in his complaint, said that the "information in the tweet above is clearly false and intended to provoke hate and violence against the Rohingyas".

"In using the word "jehadi" for the Rohingya community she has spread a falsehood which will cause harm to the reputation of an ethnic refugee community, flare communal tensions and incite hatred towards this helpless minority," Bhushan said.
