The heavy rainfall on Monday night brought parts of Bengaluru airport to a standstill. Parts of the Kempegowda International Airport were inundated and passengers were left stranded.

The airport received around 93mm of rain in just a few hours, flooding areas near the pick-up and drop points inside the airport premises.

Passengers shot videos of how they had to seek the help of a local tractor to reach the airport terminal as the roads inside the airport premises remained waterlogged.

Departures of around 11 flights were delayed due to the weather conditions and arrivals were affected too. The panic spread as cab drivers refused to drive through the flooded roads.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall likely to occur over Belgavi, Gadag, Dharwad and Haveri districts of north interior Karnataka and Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu, Hassan, Kolar, Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Tumakuru, Chikkaballapura & Ramanagara districts of south interior Karnataka.
