Mumbai Indians, the defending champions, needed to win their match against Delhi Daredevils on Sunday to stay in contention for the race to the play-offs. KXIP, meanwhile, had to defeat Chennai Super Kings by a huge margin to make it to the knockout stages.

As it turned out, MI lost to Daredevils by 11 runs. KXIP, hours later, lost to CSK by five wickets. Both teams were knocked out of the tournament.

In the viral video, Zinta could be seen telling someone during the CSK vs KXIP match that she was happy Mumbai had failed to make it to the play-offs. Twitterati deciphered her words as the following. "I am just very happy that Mumbai is not going to the finals.. Really happy."

Zinta, has however, clarified that she was happy only because Mumbai's defeat meant there was a chance for her team to go through. That chance for KXIP was gone the moment CSK went past the 100-run mark on Sunday. Chasing 154 for a win, CSK had to fold up for 100 or below for KXIP to go through.

Zinta and the rest of the KXIP camp would have hoped for a while - in the 11th over, CSK were 58/4. But a composed knock by Suresh Raina and fireworks by Deepak Chahar ensured CSK won their final league match.

On Sunday, KL Rahul had a rare failure and was bowled out by Ngidi for just 7 runs and apart from Nair, none took the mantle of handling the team.

As CSK began their chase, Ankit Rajpoot and Mohit Sharma's bowling did give them some hope when the two picked up early wickets. Suresh Raina, though, struck an unbeaten 61 and Deepak Chahar's 20-ball 39 ensured that CSK win the match in the last over.

The win also meant that Rajasthan Royals go into the play-offs as the fourth team from the group stages.

Incidentally, KXIP lost both their matches against Mumbai Indians this season. On May 4, they went down by six wickets and then lost a thriller on May 16 by three runs despite Rahul's heroics.
