Bengaluru: Phones and tablets made by Samsung Electronics Corp. and Apple Inc. dominate the secondhand market in India, according to the data collated by re-commerce marketplace ReGlobe.in.

ReGlobe.in offers an online platform to sell old or used electronic gadgets such as laptops, mobile phones, LCD/LED TVs, gaming consoles and tablets. Professional buyers, who work with ReGlobe, refurbish these devices for sale in the secondhand market.

In the laptop category, Dell and HP are the most attractive brands for buybacks.

“The position for buybacks these brands enjoy on the ReGlobe platform reflects the brand perception they enjoy in India,” a ReGlobe report said.

In the smartphone category, Samsung Galaxy Grand Duo, Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 are the preferred models, the report said.

Bengaluru has emerged as top city for device buybacks, contributing one in five transactions, followed by Delhi and Mumbai. A sixth of all transactions happen outside the top right cities cities, ReGlobe said.

“The brands that have emerged on the top in our list are clear winners both in the first hand market and also in their avatars as secondhand resale products,” said Mandeep Manocha, CEO & co-founder, ReGlobe.in, which is present in 14 cities.
