Very heavy rains predicted for Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra:

The weather agency has issued an orange alert for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra today and residents have been instructed to be prepared for rough weather conditions. The IMD has forecast widespread very heavy rainfall in Gujarat till September 18. Saurashtra and South Gujarat districts of Rajkot, Jamnagar and Junagadh, Surat and other districts are expected to receive very heavy rainfall today.

Rescue operations underway in rain-battered Gujarat; six more teams to join:

The Indian Navy was quoted by ANI as saying that a naval team was dispatched from INS Sardar Patel to Rajkot yesterday and it will undertake a rescue operation at Rajkot. Six more teams are ready to augment the ongoing civil rescue efforts in affected areas, it added.

Gangotri highway has been closed near Sukhi Top area due to a landslide amid the incessant rainfall in Uttarkashi district, reported ANI. Uttarkashi Disaster Management Officer, Devendra Patwal said the Border Roads Organisation is working to reopen the highway.

Red alert in Odisha following heavy rain; schools shut in 12 districts

The district authorities have issued a flood alert in Odisha following heavy rainfall and a 'red' warning, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall for Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Sonepur and Bargarh. Waterlogging was reported from several areas of Bhubaneswar on Monday as the city recorded 195 mm rainfall in the 24 hours till 8.30 am - the highest in the last 63 years.

IMD issues yellow alert for Bihar till September 15:

The Patna meteorological center has issued a yellow alert for parts of central and north Bihar and has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall for the state till September 15. The southwest monsoon has become active and many districts of the state received rainfall on Monday. Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Samastipur, Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur are expected to receive heavy rainfall today, said IMD. The weather agency has issued a yellow alert for 17 districts of the state and people have been warned not to venture out in these rough weather conditions.

Light to moderate rainfall predicted for Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh:

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall for Delhi, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Dadri, Greater Noida, Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, Panipat and Uttar Pradesh for Tuesday. Heavy rains lashed the national capital last week, leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls in several parts of the city. The continuous downpour disrupted normal lives and caused inconvenience to the commuters.

An ALH Dhruv helicopter rescued 7 crew from a distressed boat off Diu in a rescue operation amidst challenging weather on Monday night. The Indian Coast Guard said that all personnel are safe, reported news agency ANI.
