Northern Ireland

From Jan. 13, 2020, same-sex marital unions became legally recognized in the country, with the first ceremonies set to take place in February. Since couples need to indicate their intention to marry 28 days before their decided date, the first weddings are expected to take place in the Valentine’s week. While already-married couples would be legally recognized henceforth, couples in a civil partnership won’t be able to convert it to a marriage as of yet.
