Although no longer a hurricane, the post-tropical cyclone Dorian lashed Nova Scotia and surrounding regions in Canada with strong winds, uprooting trees and severely affecting power supply on Sept. 8. Before making landfall in Canada, Dorian wreaked havoc in the Bahamas, leaving nearly 70,000 people homeless. In the U.S., it made landfall in North Carolina and brushed over some East Coast states, causing massive floods. Five deaths have been blamed on the storm to date.
