Aaron Mooy central to Huddersfield Town's Premier League push logo 25-05-2017

Socceroos midfielder Aaron Mooy is set to play at the iconic Wembley Stadium on Monday as Huddersfield Town face Reading for a spot in the Premier League.

Mooy is set to pull the strings for Huddersfield against Reading in the Championship Play-Off Final, with the winner set to join Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion in earning promotion.

For Huddersfield, it would be their first appearance in English football's top flight since 1971-72.

Mooy named Huddersfield Town's Player of the Year

They were relegated to the second division that season after finishing bottom, winning just six of their 42 games.

The clashes between the two this season have been tight affairs.

In September, Huddersfield played 65 minutes with ten men after winger Rajiv van La Parra was sent off.

Reading made the most of it, with Roy Beerens scoring the game's only goal.

Huddersfield turned the tables when the two met again in February.

A late strike by Philip Billing gave Town a 1-0 win.

Huddersfield progressed to the final courtesy of a dramatic penalty shootout after their two-legged semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday was locked at 1-1 after 210 minutes.

Before that, they stumbled towards the finish line somewhat, losing six of their last ten Championship matches to finish fifth.

Reading beat Fulham 2-1 over the two legs in their semi-final.

Their late-season form was very good, winning seven of their last nine league games to finish third.

The Australian has been a revelation for the Terriers this season.

On loan from Manchester City, the Socceroos star has been an absolute standout in Huddersfield's midfield.

Guardiola hails 'amazing' Mooy

Mooy's consistency has been remarkable, missing just one of Huddersfield's 48 league matches.

The 26-year-old took out the top honour at the club's annual awards, being named Huddersfield's Player of the Year, while he was also included in the EFL Team of the Season and Championship PFA Team of the Year.
