Alexis Sanchez says he will not discuss his Arsenal future until the end of the season as he is eager to avoid any distractions.

The Chilean forward has seen speculation regarding his continued presence at Emirates Stadium provide an unwelcome backdrop to what has been a testing campaign for the Gunners.

Corchia confirms PL interest

Both he and fellow big-money acquisition Mesut Ozil are set to see their current contracts expire in the summer of 2018.

Neither have agreed to an extension to those terms as yet, sparking plenty of transfer talk, and Sanchez claims he will continue to put discussions on hold as Arsene Wenger’s side chase down a top-four finish in the Premier League and FA Cup glory.

He told Sky Sports: “What I want to do now is to finish the season well, try to qualify for the Champions League and win the FA Cup.

“The manager and I have said we will sit down together to discuss the topic in terms of what will happen and what we’re going to do, what’s best for the club, what’s best for me, what’s best for him.

“We’ll speak when the season is over because if I speak now, that would take my focus away from qualifying for the Champions League and winning the FA Cup.”

Sanchez is in a strong bargaining position after netting 24 times in all competitions this season.

The £31 million purchase from Barcelona is, however, of the opinion that his third campaign in north London cannot be considered a success unless he helps to secure major silverware.

Mou: I hope Wenger keeps his job

He added: “I don’t think it has been a very good season for me because I came here to win trophies, to be competing in the Champions League and to win the Premier League, and I feel disappointed that we aren’t in a position to win the Premier League of the Champions League.

“I think that if a player wants to be at the very top, he needs to win the Champions League and league titles. That’s what makes the great players truly great.”

Sanchez has been heavily linked with German giants Bayern Munich over recent weeks, while talk of interest from the Chinese Super League refuses to go away.
