Newly-appointed head coach of the Indian cricket team, Anil Kumble has not chosen to have any high profile coaches to assist him in the support staff.

The duo of Sanjay Bangar and Abhay Sharma, who served as batting and fielding coaches respectively in Zimbabwe, will continue in their roles for the four-Test tour to West Indies. No separate bowling coach has been appointed for the tour as India's all time highest Test wicket-taker, Kumble doubles up to guide the bowling troupe.

His expertise will come in more than handy for the spinners in the team, leggie Amit Mishra and team's lead spinner R Ashwin in being better bowlers. "This is the arrangement we would have for the West Indies tour. For the long home season ahead, a decision will be taken later," confirmed a BCCI source.

Kumble's support staff can also be read as a high vote of confidence for gritty Test player of his time. Bangar is the only survivor of the support staff team that worked under team director Ravi Shastri. Bangar also served as the head coach in Zimbabwe where India sent a fringe team under MS Dhoni's leadership.

With Kumble given coaching assignment for a year and the support staff an extension for a single tour, the new BCCI dispensation for now is walking cautiously in identifying the right support staff to aid Team India in being world beaters.

How Indian cricket team’s jersey has progressed over the years: 1992- There’s blues and then there are blues so it’s worth debating if India’s 1992 jersey Down Under was Navy, Midnight or the staid Oxford blue. But when colour came to World Cup clothing, it brought with it the stripes on the shoulders (white, red, green, blue) like the test pattern of colour bars in TV with India in san serif yellow.
