Josep Maria Bartomeu will go on trial for fraud and corruption over Barcelona's signing of Neymar from Santos after his latest appeal was rejected.

The National Court confirmed the former vice-president's case will go ahead, ruling that his position gave him the same responsibilities as then-president Sandro Rosell.

The case has been brought forward from Brazilian supermarket chain DIS, who owned 40 per cent of the rights to Neymar prior to his sale to Barca in 2013.

Barcelona's original claim over the transfer fee paid for Neymar has long been a complicated subject, with the club having lied about how much he cost.

DIS claim they are owed more money than the sum they originally received for the deal.
