Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has confidently claimed that a top-four finish is “ours for the taking”.

The Gunners have slipped out of the Champions League places over recent weeks in the midst of a testing period for all concerned.

Pressure is mounting on manager Arsene Wenger and his underperforming squad to turn things around, with the club now sat sixth in the Premier League table.

Wenger bemused by Alexis panic

There is a seven-point gap for Arsenal to bridge to Manchester City in fourth but, with games in hand, Spanish full-back Bellerin remains bullish that supporter angst can be calmed and a lofty standing secured.

"My message is just to remain calm," he told Arsenal Player.

"There are still loads of games to go. I understand that it can be frustrating not to be there at the moment but as I say, we just need to be together.

"The team, fans, everyone - the whole of Arsenal has to be together and be positive. Hopefully like that we can make it happen.

"It’s also true that we have a few games in hand, we are a few games behind some of the teams on top of us. But we knew this year it was going to be very competitive. There were six or seven teams that were going to compete for the Champions League spots.

"We knew that it was going to get tough. It was going to be one of the hardest leagues probably in the last few years. We knew it could happen but we still have loads of games for us to recover and make it into the top four.

'Arsenal fans want the team to lose'

"I think it’s just ours for the taking."

Arsenal are next in action on Wednesday evening when London rivals West Ham pay a visit to Emirates Stadium.

Wenger’s side will be looking for a first win in four Premier League fixtures when they take to the field against the Hammers, with only one point taken from the last nine on offer.
