Perak and Malaysia Under-22 midfielder, Ahmad Khairil Anuar is confident that he will be fully fit for the upcoming AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers as well as the South-East Asian (SEA) Games next month.

Ahmad Khairil who is more commonly known at 'Beto' was speaking to reporters after the launch of Puma's new football boots - Puma One at a shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur on Friday morning.

The new design of the boots comes with the tagline "Fit, Fast and Feel" and Beto has given his thumbs up on the new creation and reckoned the shoe can help his performance.

Beto is part of the U22 squad that was supposed to start training camp ahead of the AFC qualifiers in Bangkok later this month but plans were changed after only six players reported for national duty on Wednesday. Four players were allowed to return back to their respective teams for at least two more domestic matches.

"[Low reporting numbers]This is not ideal for our preparations of course. Many players can't report yet because of the packed schedule. We are here are also shocked."

"It's not fair if they are not allowed back to their teams because the others aren't here yet. As for me and Syahmi [Safari], we are staying to work on our rehabilation," said Beto when speaking to the press at the boot launch.

Beto picked up his injury in the second day of training last month and had to miss friendly matches in China as well as against Melaka United. However, the Ipoh-born midfielder is working hard to get back to full fitness and he's confident that he will be ready when the two tournaments come into view.

"I've been out five weeks with an MCL [medial collateral ligament] injury. Hopefully in one more week I can join full training."

"Now, I'm doing conditioning to start training and when the full team assemble, I can join them. If I'm fully recovered, I'm sure I can play in the AFC qualifiers," he added.

Should he recover well, Beto could well play a part in the upcoming friendly match against Myanmar U22 on 13 July 2017.

The new Puma One football boot was designed through consultation with France and Atletico Madrid'd Antoine Griezmann and Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry. Puma One football boot is now available for purchase starting from RM209 in selected outlets all across Malaysia.
