Kolkata giants East Bengal have reached an agreement with Trinidad and Tobago international Carlyle Mitchell ahead of the upcoming Calcutta Football League (CFL).

The former Canadian Major League Soccer (MLS) side Vancouver Whitecaps defender will join the Red and Golds in a bid help his new team win an eighth successive CFL title, which starts next month.

It is understood that it was his compatriot Willis Plaza, who himself recently signed back on the recommendation of newly-appointed coach Khalid Jamil helped put forward the 29-year-old's name to the East Bengal management.

Mitchell last turned out for San Juan Jabloteh in the Trinidad & Tobago Pro League. His only experience plying his trade in Asia came in the form of his spell at Korean second division side Seoul E-Land between 2015 and 2016.
