Arabian Gulf League side Al Nasr Club held a press conference at the Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai on Monday to unveil Cesare Prandelli as their new coach.

The club had initially announced the Italian's appointment after losing the final of the President's Cup on Thursday having seeked him out because of his experience managing the likes of Fiorentina, Parma and Valencia in addition to the Italian national team.

Prandelli expressed his pleasure at taking over the position at Al Nasr, stressing that he did not hesitate to accept the offer.

"I examined the team's status before signing the contract and it is strong," he said at the press conference.

The 59-year-old is determined to lead the UAE outfit to success and is eager to get started.

"My team and I are ready. I wil try my best for the the team and to achieve success."

Despite boasting a fine history, Al Nasr have not won as much silverware of late as they would have liked with a President's Cup and Arabian Gulf Cup their only two trophies since 2002. Their recent President's Cup final defeat brought an end to another mediocre season in which they finished sixth in the league.

Prandelli recognises the issues that need addressing and emphasised the importance of learning from the past campaign.

"There were some failures but the important thing is to learn from the past," he said when reflecting on the past season.

When asked why he chose Al Nasr, he said, "For the chance to discover football in the UAE and Middle East."
