Michy Batshuayi has not had too much to get excited about at Chelsea, but admits his Premier League title-winning goal was “the stuff of dreams”.

The Belgium international arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2016 on the back of a 23-goal season at Marseille and with a £33 million price tag to justify.

With Diego Costa keeping his route to the first team blocked, though, the 23-year-old has been forced to play a bit-part role under Antonio Conte.

Conte shows Italians do it better!

He was, however, the man to net the all-important effort which secured the Blues another top-flight crown, with a 1-0 win over West Brom getting double-chasing Chelsea over the line.

Batshuayi told the club’s official website on that strike: “It’s the stuff of dreams.

“We have had a fantastic season, we have worked really hard and everyone is so happy. Above all, we are the champions. It was a chance to reach our objective as soon as possible and we are all delighted we did it.

“I am very happy to have helped the team at a big moment.

“Of course it’s been a very difficult season for me personally, but I knew it wouldn’t be easy because this is a great club with great players. I have worked very hard and I have now made a big contribution which is a dream.

'Conte the cream of super-managers'

“Even if I haven’t played much I have learned a lot during the week in training, and whenever I get minutes I give my maximum.”

Batshuayi has managed six goals in 25 appearances across all competitions.

His lack of regular minutes has sparked transfer talk just 12 months on from his arrival in England, with an international performer of his potential considered to be deserving of a more prominent role.
