A pair of rivalry matches in the first round of the Liga MX playoffs already have fans salivating after matchups were finalized Sunday.

Santos Laguna and Toluca drew 2-2 in the final match of the season, earning both a point and setting up a rematch between the two teams in the upcoming week's quarterfinals.

The result also meant that Chivas took the third spot and Atlas finished sixth, meaning a matchup between the league's two Guadalajara sides and a pair of Clasico Tapatio matchups. It will be the fourth time the teams have met in the playoffs with previous meetings coming in the 2000 Verano tournament, the 2004 Apertura and in the 2015 Clausura when Atlas fans invaded the pitch and earned a two-match stadium ban.

Farther north, in Monterrey, it also will be a crosstown battle with No. 2 seed Monterrey facing No. 7 Tigres in the Clasico Regio. It's the fifth time the rivals in La Sultana del Norte have met in the playoffs in the short tournament era, with Rayados eliminating Tigres in all four previous meetings.

And after Monarcas' stunning late comeback to nab the eighth seed Saturday, the Morelia side will host then travel to face Tijuana, which finished as the league leader for the second consecutive tournament. Xolos will look to avoid the fate that befell them in the Apertura when Leon knocked them out in the first round.

Times and dates will be announced by the league Monday.
