Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli would have no problem adapting to life at Real Madrid were he to make a switch this year, says Paul Clement.

Having proven himself on a Premier League stage at White Hart Lane and at international level with England, the 20-year-old is now reported to be registering on the radar of Europe’s top clubs.

Mabbutt: Alli should welcome interest

Madrid are said to be closely monitoring his situation, with the Champions League holders prepared to spend big in order to bring players of such potential onto their books.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are also said to be keen on Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard and Clement, who worked at Santiago Bernabeu alongside Carlo Ancelotti, believes both men would be a good fit.

“Why can’t he make the step up? He’s still so young,” the current Swansea City boss said when quizzed on Madrid’s reported interest in Alli.

“All the best players get linked with Real Madrid, Eden Hazard is another one who is being linked at the moment.

“But if these teams want to do well and challenge for trophies, they’ve got to try and keep their best players.

Hazard should reject Real Madrid

“Like any player, the more consistent you are, and you’re challenging at the top, then you’re going to be of interest to arguably bigger clubs.”

Alli has netted 17 times in 39 appearances for Tottenham this season, helping to keep them in the Premier League title picture and through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Hazard, meanwhile, has found the target 11 times for Chelsea, with the Blues still heading the English top-flight table and readying themselves for a derby date with Spurs at Wembley in cup competition.
