East Bengal has confirmed their interest in being part of the cash-rish Indian Super League and will pick up the bid document on offer on Wednesday.

Debabrata Sarkar, a senior official at the club confirmed this to Goal. “We are collecting the form tomorrow. We will study the form and then details will follow,” he observed.

When asked about the chances of a bid from the Red and Golds, he said that nothing has been decided. “We are only collecting the document tomorrow and no decision has been taken.”

Rival club Mohun Bagan are also in on the story regarding a bid for ISL. “According to rules and regulations, Mohun Bagan are on the same platform we are in.”

With the future of Indian football awaiting clarity, I-League clubs are desperate for an answer from the AIFF. Any decision regarding bids would only be taken after the federation gives them a clear response.
