Highlands Park will be out to silence Orlando Pirates when they host them in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) match at the Makhulong Stadium on Saturday.

The Lions of the North are licking their wounds following their 1-0 defeat to Ajax Cape Town in their previous league game in the Mother City in midweek.

As a result Highlands have now lost two consecutive league games. Prior to their losing run, they had registered two wins over Free State Stars and Maritzburg United.

Highlands are currently sitting 16th on the league standings with 20 points from 23 matches. They are three points behind 13th placed Bloemfontein Celtic.

Mothobi Mvala, who has four league goals, is one of Highlands' key players in attack. The midfielder will be hoping to inspire his side to victory over Pirates.

Highlands coach Gordon Igesund will be eager to mastermind a victory over the Buccaneers - so that his side can move out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Pirates will be out to add to Highlands' woes when the two Gauteng sides lock horns in Tembisa.

Bucs are oozing with confidence after brushing aside Maritzburg 2-1 in their previous league game in Johannesburg in midweek.

A first half goal from Ayanda Gcaba and Dove Wome's second half goal helped the Buccaneers end their 12 match winless run in the league.

Pirates are currently sitting ninth on the league table with 26 points from 22 matches. They are only two points behind eighth-placed Polokwane City.

The player to watch out for in the Pirates team is Dove Wome. The forward will be looking to add to his three league goals and help the Buccaneers win.

Kjell Jonevret, the Pirates coach, knows that a victory over the Lions of the North will see his side move back into the top eight on the league log.

This will be the second time Highlands and Pirates are meeting in a top flight league match in the PSL era. The two sides played to a 2-2 draw in the first round last December.

Tendai Ndoro grabbed a brace for Bucs, while Lindokuhle Mbatha and Thanduyise Khuboni both scored for the Lions of the North at the Orlando Stadium.
