Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner labelled his team's achievement of securing a shot at Premier League promotion "incredible, unbelievable" after Aaron Mooy and Co. defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mooy's 10th assist for the season in all competitions set up Huddersfield's 1-0 win away to Wolves on Tuesday, as the Socceroos midfielder teed up Isaiah Brown in the 31st minute.

The win saw Huddersfield move to 81 points in third in the Championship table, meaning they cannot drop lower than sixth with two games remaining in England's second tier.

Huddersfield will be involved in the promotion play-offs for the Premier League for the first time.

"I'm absolutely delighted," Wagner told Huddersfield Town TV after the game.

Mooy named in Championship team of the season

"I'm so happy and proud for this football club, for every single player, for the backroom staff, for the supporters, for the chairman because I know everyone worked so unbelievably hard… in this season.

"We've now achieved a promotion play-off spot two games before the end of the season and this is incredible, unbelievable."

England's second-tier has had promotion play-offs since the 1986-87 season and Huddersfield haven't finished in the top six since they were relegated from the old Division 1 in 1971-72.

Wagner's side has been in and around the promotion places for the majority of the 2016-17 campaign and after the win at Molineux, the German manager decided to bring all his players together in a huddle in the middle of the pitch to applaud their achievement.

Mooy strikes for rampant Huddersfield

"This [squad] is something very, very special we have together," he said.

"I think this was the right moment to show our togetherness in the middle of the grass and after what the players did in the whole season."

Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United have already secured automatic promotion to the Premier League for next season.

Assuming the clubs from third to six don't change over the final two rounds, Huddersfield will face Fulham in a two-legged tie for a spot in the promotion final against either Reading or Sheffield Wednesday.
