I-League 2017: Aizawl FC vs Mumbai FC Preview: Jamil looking to do a double over former side logo 03-03-2017

Aizawl FC host Mumbai FC in a Round 12 encounter of the ongoing I-League season at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl on March 4, 2017. When Khalid Jamil left Mumbai and joined Aizawl, no one would have expected the North Eastern club to fare this well in the league.

They now sit pretty in the second position, a point away from pace-setters, East Bengal. They are also the only team to defeat the Red and Gold brigade this season. In contrast, Mumbai FC have been a sorry affair after early glimpses of bravado as they won their first two matches of the season. Yet, after that they went on a six match losing streak, and slightly improved on that to record three draws but that still means they are yet to win in nine matches. Mahmud Al-Amna's fantastic form in the middle of the park has been a boon for the Reds who are also helped by the tremendous amount of work that Stephane Kamo puts in upfront. Khalid Jamil's Indian contingent too have played out of their skin as the likes of Jayesh Rane, Brandon Vanlalremdika and Laldanmawia have been absolutely fantastic. Their home form too has been amazing as they are still unbeaten in the fortress and will look to continue in the same vein against a struggling Mumbai. For Jamil's former side, nothing has been going right, even though the run of defeats has been stemmed off late.

Abhishek Bachchan: India needs time to become a superpower Winger Nikhil Kadam, who has been brought into the team, gave a good account of himself will need to maintain his form besides Densill Theobald who will have to better Al-Amna if Mumbai are to get a result out of this game. Djelaluddin Sharityar will have to be at his very best to stop the pacy and quick Aizawl players. Santosh Kashyap desperately needs a positive result if he is going to win back the fan support and is dangerously close to being sacked. The last time the two teams had met, Aizawl had nestled out a 1-0 victory in Mumbai. While Jamil will hope for a repeat, Kashyap will have revenge on his mind. Kick-off at 14:05 IST.
