I-League 2017: Churchill Brothers vs. Mohun Bagan Preview: Plying catch up to East Bengal, The Mariners need to beat Red Machines logo 03-03-2017

Churchill Brothers host Mohun Bagan in a Round 12 encounter of the ongoing I-League season at the Tilak Maidan stadium in Vasco, Goa, on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

The Red Machines picked up their first win under new gaffer Derrick Pereira with a 3-0 schooling of DSK Shivajians last week. This was after a high scoring affair against Minerva Punjab where Churchill were downed 4-5.

Abhishek Bachchan - Give India 10 years The former Shivajians boss will look to stick with his top performers, especially Ansumana Kromah who has been in blistering form. He will be partnered by Anthony Wolfe upfront who was among the scorers against the gaffer's former side.

Adil Khan and Rowilson Rodrigues will look to helm the defence while Bektur Talgat will be charged with marshalling the midfield. All eyes will obviously be on the find of the season so far - the nippy winger Chesterpoul Lyngdoh who has been giving full backs nightmares. His battle against Sony Norde will be a key determinant in the match.

The Mariners, meanwhile, are returning from a break in league action as they were involved in continental fixtures. In their last home victory against Club Valencia (4-1), Sanjoy Sen succeeded in resting several key players and will be hopeful that the freshness will help them out against the Goans.

With Pronay Haldar out injured, Souvik Chakraborti will likely partner Katsumi Yusa in midfield with Prabir Das and the indomitable Sony Norde on either wings. In defence, Anas Edathodika will most likely partner Eduardo Ferreira centrally while Subasish Bose will be the left back in action.

The two teams had met last time in January in Kolkata, with Balwant Singh's goal the only difference, but it looks that Singh will only be on the bench after missing a clutch of clear cut chances last time around against Valencia.

Chelsea win thrilling Premier League snail race Otherwise it's pretty even, as in the five matches played between the two teams, three have ended in a draw with both teams bagging a win a piece. The pressure though is on Mohun Bagan, who desperately need to dock all three points if they are to reclaim their I-League title with East Bengal going great guns at the top of the table. For Churchill though, the priorities will be different as they are merely a point above the relegation zone. Kick-off at 19:05 IST.
