Immobile can't replace Lewandowski, says Matthaus logo 04-06-2014

Former Germany star Lothar Matthaus does not believe new Borussia Dortmund signing Ciro Immobile is worthy of replacing Robert Lewandowski. The Serie A top scorer signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga club on Monday to take up the centre forward slot as Lewandowski leaves to join Bayern Munich this summer. However, Matthaus thinks the Italy international is a completely different style of forward compared to last season's Bundesliga top goalscorer and is not good enough to replace him. "He is a player with skill and potential, but I'm sorry, he can't replace Lewandowski," he told Sky Sport Germany. "He is not a striker like Robert, who runs long distances, Immobile stays in the centre more, but Lewandowski is not a classical penalty area striker." Immobile, 24, joins Jurgen Klopp's team from Torino after scoring 22 goals in 33 games in Serie A last season.
