Organised by Royal Sports Promotions in association with the Asian Boxing Council, the event will see participation from boxers from several countries.

To be held in the league format over a five-week period, the championship will see eight teams battling for the title and prize money of Rs.6 crore. The championship will offer a total of six titles for six weight categories.

A total of 48 boxers will participate in the inaugural edition of the PBIC including 32 male and 16 female pugilists.

Each team will have a mix of Indian origin and international boxers.

The championship will be run under the norms of World Boxing Council and the winners of all six categories would be entitled to fight Asian titles.

"India has had a long history with boxing. The country has produced many world champions and Olympic medallists in the sport of boxing.

"We see a great potential in PBIC to bring talent from across the world in the ring and give professional boxing community a stage to showcase their prowess," Asian Boxing Council Executive Secretary Kiate Sirigul said.
