Indian Super League: When is the deadline to announce the coach

Six of the ten Indian Super League (ISL) franchises have more or less confirmed the names of their coaches for the 2017-18 season. Every ISL club needs to announce the name of their head coach on or before July 15.

Only FC Pune City and Mumbai City FC are the two franchises who are set to retain the services of Antonio Lopez Habas and Alexandre Guimaraes.

Delhi Dynamos have opted for an experienced name in Miguel Angel Portugal, who worked at Racing Santander and also was the technical director at Real Madrid. Qatar’s Aspire Academy played their part in helping indentify the coach with Gianluca Zambrotta opting to ply his trade in China as an assistant coach.

Chennaiyin FC and Marco Materazzi went separate ways after a difficult season and have now signed an English coach in John Gregory, who has worked with the likes of Portsmouth, QPR and Aston Villa.

Bengaluru FC, the latest entrants into the ISL fold, will continue to work with former Barcelona assistant coach Albert Roca, who helped the club win the Federation Cup last season.

NorthEast United couldn’t tie down Nelo Vingada as the Portuguese has taken charge of the Malaysian national team. Kerala Blasters are yet to agree terms with Steve Coppell while Atletico de Kolkata aren’t inclined to bring back Jose Molina.

After roping in Ishfaq Ahmed as the assistant coach, Tata Group’s football venture from Tatanagar is yet to take concrete shape as the club is still mulling on who their first coach would be.
